This is the aura of Indian wedding which mesmerizes everyone from bride to groom, bridesmaids to groomsmen and all attending the blissful ceremony of union of two souls.

Here are a few inspirations to make your wedding preparations a Cakewalk.

Color Guidelines: Red is the traditional color of Indian bridal attire. But, the trends are becoming more open to other bright colors like green, royal blue, orange etc. as it adds a contemporary twist to your wedding fashion.
  • An apple shape or petite frame should prefer monochromatic look by selecting an outfit in a bright color.
  • If you are pear shaped, then go for brighter colors for the upper body and darker colors for the lower half to give a leaner look.
Saris: Bridal sarees have a versatile range in India. One is spoilt for choice when it comes to saree. From Banarasi saree to Mysore Silk saree, kanjeevaram to brocade sarees. Banarasi sarees with glorious hand woven zari work look great on all shapes except hour glass figure. If you are blessed with hourglass figure, prefer sarees in chiffon, georgettes and net with short blouses that shows off your waist.

Lehengas: Lehenga Cholis are exquisite bridal wear in India. Sensuous Lehengas in varied styles like the Straight Cut Lehenga, Mermaid Lehengas, A-line Lehenga and Shararas in silk, satin, net, velvet or tissue with Zari embroidery, patch work, thread work, multi-colored stones, mirror work, etc are in vogue. Mermaid style is best suited for an apple shape and slim athletic. An A-line Lehenga is a great choice for pear, hourglass and petite shapes too. Girls with petite structure should go for longer Cholis with V-necks and lighter embroidery. Apple shaped/petite girls can choose sharara’s as it creates a leaner and taller illusion.

Anarkali Dress: Sensuous Anarkali dresses are very well suited to an hourglass figure as the midsection is visible. Apple shape too can carry an Anarkali outfit with grace keeping in mind that the embroidery should be less on the upper bodice.

Embroidery: Heavily embroidered Cholis with strong detailing and V-neck is the perfect choice for pear shape and petite as well. Petite girls should keep the length of their Cholis longer, with full sleeves to create focus on vertical aspects giving them a taller look. Minimal embroidery on neck and heavier at the edges of the dress compliments an apple shape as it draws attention away from the heavier upper body.

Season: Choice of a dress should be done keeping the wedding date and season in mind. This assures in sync look, and feel of your bridal outfit with the season. Choose silk, chiffon, net or a georgette dress for summers and velvet or brocade dress for winters that accentuates the luxury of your bridal couture.

Complimentary Outfit:

Conveying your union on a fashion level with your groom will add an extra zing to the blissful ceremony. Make sure that you both have similar elements in your attire, like the color of the scarf or pagari of the groom matching the bridal couture.

Jewelry: When it comes to Jewelry every bride desires to generate an exclusive dialogue through the sparkle of the jewelry, quietly, with statement pieces like Mohawk mangtika, an intricate ear cuff or a traditional Vaddanam. The perfect jewelry can lit up the face of the delicate bride. Bridal with an oval face can wear all types of earrings and necklaces proportionate to their height. Drop earrings with length and T-shaped necklace with deep necklines dresses compliments a round face as it provides length to the soft curves of the face. However a round face should avoid wearing a choker, or a big nose ring. An oblong face looks best in button earrings and choker necklace.

Makeup: A parfait makeup accentuates the best features retaining the overall look, simple and exquisite. Brides should opt for airbrush makeup as it gives a natural finish to the skin, stays longer and is absolutely hygienic. An elegant makeup with neutral shades emphasizing either the eyes or the lips should be preferred for that sensuous look. Try keeping the eyebrows fuller as they accentuate the beauty of the face.

Hair styles and Accessories:

A perfect hairdo adorned with chic eye-dazzling accessories is very much in vogue. Fresh flowers like orchids, roses and jasmines have graced the hairdos of the beautiful brides since time-immemorial. For the experimental brides, beautiful hair accessories in Swarovski crystals and bejeweled clips are readily available to add a bit of bling to the costume. However, always opt for a hairstyle that gives a soft oval shape to your face and highlights the key components of the bridal outfit. Traditional buns or chic braids with exquisite hair accessories can impart an elegant look to the bride.
